اَللّٰهُمَّ صَيِّبًا نَّافِعًا

Phonetic transliteration

Allāhumma ṣayyiban nāfiʿā.

English translation

“O Allah, make it a beneficial rain.”

Virtue & benefit: ʿĀisha (raḍiy Allāhu ‘anhā) narrates: “Whenever the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw rain, he used to say [the above]. (Bukhārī 1032) Anas bin Mālik (raḍiy Allāhu ʿanhu) reported: “It rained upon us as we were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ removed his cloth (from a part of his body) till the rain fell on it. We said: ‘O Messenger of Allah ﷺ, why did you do this?’ He said: ‘Because it (the rainfall) has just come from the Exalted Lord.’” (Muslim 898) The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Two supplications are not rejected: at the time of adhān and under rain.” (Hākim in Mustadrak 2534, Tabarānī in Muʿjam al-Kabīr 5756)”

سُبْحَانَ الَّذِيْ يُسَبِّحُ الرَّعْدُ بِحَمْدِهِ وَالْمَلَائِكَةُ مِنْ خِيْفَتِهِ

How Perfect is the One Whom the thunder exalts with praise of Him, as do the angels in awe of Him.

Upon Seeing the Early or Premature Fruit

اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَـنَا فِي ثَمَرِنَا ، وبَارِكْ لَـنَا فِي مَدِيْنَتِنَا ، وبَارِكْ لَـنَا فِي صَاعِنَا ، وبَارِكْ لَ

O Allah, bless us in our fruit, bless us in our city, bless us in our sāʿ and bless us in our mudd.

Upon Seeing the New Moon

اَللّٰهُمَّ أَهِلَّهُ عَلَيْنَا بِالْيُمْنِ وَالْإِيْمَانِ ، وَالسَّلاَمَةِ وَالْإِسْلاَمِ ، رَبِّيْ وَرَبُّكَ اللّٰهُ

O Allah, let this moon (month) pass over us with blessings, firm belief, safety, and in the state of Islam. My Lord and your Lord is Allah.
