Upon Marrying
O Allah, I ask You for the good in her and the good that You have created in her, and I seek Your protection from her evil and the evil that You have created in her.

0:00 / 0:00اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ خَيْرَهَا وَخَيْرَ مَا جَبَلْتَهَا عَلَيْهِ ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّهَا وَمِنْ شَرِّ مَا جَبَلْتَهَا عَلَيْهِ
Phonetic transliteration
Allāhumma innī as’aluka khayrahā, wa khayra ma jabaltahā ʿalayhi, wa aʿūdhu bika min sharriha, wa min sharri ma jabaltahā ʿalayh.
English translation
“O Allah, I ask You for the good in her and the good that You have created in her, and I seek Your protection from her evil and the evil that You have created in her.”
Virtue & benefit: ʿAmr b. Shuʿayb (raḍiy Allāhu ‘anhu) narrated from his father that his grandfather (ʿAbdullah b. ʿAmr ibn al-ʿAs) narrated the Prophet ﷺ saying: “If one of you marries a woman or buys a slave girl, he should say: [the above]. If he buys a camel, he should take hold of the top of its hump and say the same.” According to another narration he said: “Then he should take hold of her forelock and supplicate for blessing in the woman or the slave girl.” (Abū Dāwūd 2160)
