اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لَهُ ، وَارْفَعْ دَرَجَتَهُ فِي الْمَهْدِيِّينَ ، وَاخْلُفْهُ فِي عَقِبِهِ فِي الْغَابِرِينَ ، وَاغْفِرْ لَنَا وَلَهُ يَا رَبَّ الْعَالَمِينَ ، وَافْسَحْ لَهُ فِي قَبْرِهِ ، وَنَوِّرْ لَهُ فِيهِ

Phonetic transliteration

Allāhumma-ghfir lahu, wa-rfaʿ darajatahu fi-l-mahdiyyīn, wa-khlufhu fi ʿaqibihi fi-l-gābirīn, wa-ghfir lanā wa lahu yā Rabba-l-ʿālamīn, wa-fsaḥ lahu fi qabrihi, wa nawwir lahu fīh.

English translation

“O Allah, forgive him and raise his station among those who are guided. Take care of his future generations in his place. Forgive us and him, Lord of the Worlds, and expand his grave for him and illuminate it for him.”

Virtue & benefit: Umm Salamah (raḍiy Allāhu ‘anhā) reported: “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to Abū Salamah, and his eyes were open; so he closed them. Then he said: ‘When the soul is taken out, the sight follows it.’ Some people from his family shouted and screamed, so he ﷺ said: ‘Do not make duʿā’ for yourselves except for good, for the angels say āmīn to what you say.’ Then he ﷺ said [the above]. (Muslim 920)

اَللّٰهُمَّ إِنِّيْ أَسْأَلُكَ عِيْشَةً نَّقِيَّةً ، وَمِيْتَةً سَوِيَّةً ، وَمَرَدًّا غَيْرَ مُخْزٍ وَّلَا فَاضِحٍ

إِنَّ لِلَّهِ مَا أَخَذَ ، وَلَهُ مَا أَعْطَى ، وَكُلٌّ عِنْدَهُ بِأَجَلٍ مُسَمًّى، فَلْتَصْبِرْ وَلْتَحْتَسِبْ

Verily to Allah belongs what He took and to Him belongs what He gave, and everything with Him has an appointed time; thus, be patient and hope for All

Encouraging the Dying to Say Shahadah

لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا اللّٰهُ

There is no god but Allah.

Protection From Hell-Fire & the Punishment of The Grave

اَللّٰهُمَّ رَبَّ جَبْرَائِيْلَ وَمِيْكَائِيْلَ وَرَبَّ إِسْرَافِيْلَ ، أَعُوْذُ بِكَ مِنْ حَرِّ النَّارِ ، وَمِنْ عَذَا

O Allah, Lord of Jabrā’īl and Mīkā’īl, and the Lord of Isrāfīl, I seek Your protection from the heat of the Hell-fire and from the punishment of the g

Protection From Hell-Fire, Punishment of the Grave & Trials

اَللّٰهُمَّ إِنِّيْ أَعُوْذُ بِكَ مِنْ عَذَابِ جَهَنَّمَ ، وَمِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ ، وَمِنْ فِتْنَةِ الْمَحْيَا وَالْمَ

O Allah, I seek Your protection from the punishment of the Hell-fire, and from the punishment of the grave, and from the trials of life and death, and
